Mike DeGruy Scholarship
In 2019 the Dauphin Island Sea Lab Foundation hosted the Alabama Premier of the film, Diving Deep, the Life and Times of Mike DeGruy. DeGruy was a beloved native son of Mobile, an exemplary Marine Photographer and long time friend of the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. His wife Mimi produced the film to honor his memory.
The film was made possible through a collaboration with the Mobile Bay NEP. The proceeds are intended to fund awards for Bays and Bayous from 2020-2030 as well as scholarships for the DISL Marine Science High School Summer Course. The DISL scholarships will be awarded as long as the funds are available.

Jenny Cook Memorial Scholarship Fund
For more than 30 years, Jenny was active in teaching, developing new programs and mentoring generations of K-12 students and teachers through DISL’s Discovery Hall Programs. She was known throughout the marine science education community as a generous, skilled and passionate educator and was renowned for her southern drawl and sayings.
This Scholarship fund will support a student’s full tuition to Discovery Hall’s month-long residential class in marine science for high school students, annually.

University Programs Scholarship
The UP Scholarship is used to underwrite tuition cost for undergraduates attending the DISL Summer programs including room and board and can be used to cover field trip fees. Students must demonstrate financial need in order to apply for the scholarships. The scholarships are awarded by the faculty and underwritten by proceeds from the principal fundraiser Cocktails with Critters and private donations to the DISL Foundation.

George Cline Memorial Scholarship
The George Cline Scholarship is a memorial scholarship for long time associate George Cline, a professor at Jacksonville State University. The scholarship funds a Jacksonville State University undergraduate students summer school fees to attend marine science classes at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. The George Cline Scholarship is funded by private donations to the Dauphin Island Sea Lab.
